Hi Catherine,

Well as you know, I tried my best to do the decent thing. I can only set the right example - unfortunately some of our colleagues weren't pulling their weight! No pun intended. :-)

They were yummy...thanks!

Hello Tony,

I'm not sure I understand your question 100% but if you mean "is it possible to use VOIP to remotely operate a transceiver by having the SignaLink modulate the SSB audio?"...then my answer would be "I don't see why not". The SignaLink USB soundcard appears to the PC just like any other soundcard - if you can direct VOIP (Skype) audio to that device this will be passed to the radio in the same way the PSK tones would be.

Is this kind of what you have in mind?

Regards,
Dean - G0RIF

We are going to have an EME experiment next month and I have a question or two about the Signalink - USB. Is the SL compatable with SSB?, and will it work with SKYPE?

Thanks

Hi Steve,

Re the jumpers, I'd have to say I don't think there'll be a problem. The pictures on the Tigertronics website (<a href="http://www.tigertronics.com/sl_wirebm.htm" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">here</a>) are clear and you can't really go wrong.

The only real care point is to be careful not to snap a jumper and leave a bit in the block - this may render the device in-op if that particular connection is required. I have seen this reported elsewhere but I believe the frequency of occurence is rare.

The SignaLink devices are really easy to configure and use. I think you'll be fine.

Good luck and hope to hear you on the air with it someday.

Cheers,
Dean - G0RIF

Hi Dean,

Will a complete novice with a new FT-897d have trouble installing the jumpers? Thanks for your help. I will enjoy reviewing your archives

Thanks! Steve

Hi Michael,

Thanks for taking the time out to comment on the YS1G posts on my blog! I bet you & Bob must be done-in after a long week working the pile-ups and then getting back home over the weekend.

I agree entirely with your comment, problem was every time I set about an all-nighter I was nodding off in the chair by midnight after a 6am start and a long day at work. I reckon 30m through the early morning (0200-0400 UTC) might have been my best bet had I been able to commit the time and get a sleep pattern to suit.

I'd be interested to hear what setup you had in El Salvador. I did snag K5D on 30m but I suspect they had more power/antenna than you guys...?

Cheers,
Dean - G0RIF
